Beautifully in full bloom!

A wide stretch of plum blossoms

Report on February 21

Now in or around Tokyo, plum blossoms are in bloom. We take a train from Tokyo to a famous place in Odawara City where about 35,000 plum trees are planted and grown.

A lot of plum trees on the hillside
Today, it is cold. I think the temperature is at 5 degrees Celsius.
The signpost shows the way to View Point.
It takes ten minutes to the point.
Mt. Fuji hides itself behind thick clouds.
I think Mt. Fuji is a female. If a handsome guy gazes at her, she hides herself because of her shyness.
The sea is Sagami Bay.
It is unlucky we cannot get a view of Mt. Fuji but we see a panorama like that.
Plum tree orchard
It is believed that plum trees in the area started to be planted and grown in the Warring States Period(1467-1590). Those are not ornamental but for food, mainly pickled plum. Harvesting plum fruits begins in May.

That one is grown in a garden of a residence. The place we visit is one of three major plum tree orchards in the Kanto Region. One month later, according to a floral calendar, cherry blossoms start to bloom.
