The sacred mountain was often depicted in ukiyo-e during the Edo Period(1603-1867).

This image was copied from the collection of The Art Institute of Chicago:Snowy Morning from Koishikawa from the series Thirty-six Views of Mt. Fuji by Hokusai Katsushika(1760-1849)

Mt. Fuji is a symbol of Japan. I always become happy to get a view of Mt. Fuji. Since I was young, I have hiked mountain trails but never climbed Mt. Fuji. For me, it is a mountain not for climbing but for viewing. Probably, never in the future.
I would like to introduce the lyrics of one children's song titled "Fuji no Yama(mountain)". The song was registered on a list of songs which should be taught and sung by elementary school students based on instruction of the Ministry of Education of the government.
"Fuji no Yama" (published in 1910)
That upper part is coming out of clouds,
It is looking down the other surrounding mountains,
It is hearing thunder rumbling far below,
Because of its beauty and magnificence, Mt,Fuji is the best in Japan.
The song is still loved by Japanase people. If you join our tour and you like, I could sing the song at the spot to get a good view of Mt. Fuji.
We are going to different places to get a good view of Mt. Fuji. Here we are on a small cruise ship.

Thank you for taking a photo.
Behind me, a small cruise ship we are going to board. It takes 30 minutes to get around offshore.
Many seagulls and even kites gather around the ship because tourists give them snack.
At reasonable fee, we are enjoying the cruise. It is lucky to get a good view, mainly Mt. Fuji.

It is possible to go on a one-day trip there from Tokyo.
In January the new year, we are visiting a different place to get a view of Mt. Fuji and also it will be good for us to find any interesting spots.
